Our wellness spaces serve as a proactive and preventative approach to supporting staff and student mental health and wellbeing. This unique space is curated with specific items that promote calmness to reduce external stimuli that can often be overstimulating. It can provide students and staff with opportunities to focus on self-care, mental health support, building coping strategies, calming the nervous system, and so much more.
Description of Mindfulness Activities
Interoception Yoga with Mindful Sounds
Interoception is the ability to sense and perceive the internal state of the body, including the heartbeat, breath, and other physical sensations. A body scan is a mindfulness practice that involves bringing attention to different parts of the body, by noticing any sensations, or feelings that may arise. Learn about tuning into the 8th sense through a mindful body scan to focus on self-awareness by incorporating breathwork and learning about interoception and how it supports self-regulation. By becoming more in tune with our nervous system, we can improve our awareness of our body's internal sensations and learn to respond in a more mindful and self-aware way. To elevate the experience, mindful sounds from crystal sound bowls will be paired live.

Sound Bath Meditation facilitated by MARs Whealthness, LLC.
Mindful Sounds is a meditation practice that increases self-awareness, self-management, and self-regulation skills. The more we train our brain and surrender our mind to mindful sounds, the deeper we can connect with the healing properties and provoke peace within us. Each individual has the opportunity to downshift from an active beta brain wave, to a dream-like and relaxed state in alpha and theta, or even to a lucid, deep restorative sleep state in delta. All with the intention to cultivate creativity, intuition, relaxation, and rejuvenation for the mind and body. Individuals may release and unwind as they ‘bathe’ in ambient tones and binaural sounds. The sounds, frequencies, and energies trigger our parasympathetic nervous system to rest and digest mode. This modality, accompanied with breath work, penetrates at a cellular level, to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Participants relax in a comfortable position, are guided through a short meditation that utilizes breathwork, and are immersed in mindful sounds and vibrations. Grounding instruments are used to calm the body and mind, as individuals feel more relaxed and refreshed after a session.

Breath Work & Mindful Sounds
Learn how to hack the parasympathetic nervous system by learning about different breathing techniques to incorporate throughout your day in this 45 minute session. To elevate the experience, mindful sounds from crystal sound bowls will be paired live.

The Mindful Wellness Space: Stop by the Mindful Wellness Space to learn and engage in mental health and wellness activities that will be facilitated by Mindfulness in mOTion. Come and decompress from a busy day or just to explore the space during open hours. This unique space is curated with specific items that promote calmness to reduce external stimuli that can often be overstimulating. It can provide students and staff with opportunities to focus on self-care, mental health support, building coping strategies, calming the nervous system, and so much more. See you there!
